This entry-level program has an emphasis on SOCIALIZATION and emergent skills such as fine motor practice with scissors and project materials. A theme related project is available daily and planned with these skills in mind. Themes are an effective way to introduce and formalize beginning concepts. The themes we choose are relevant to the young child, literature based, and FUN.

Sign language is used to introduce the Letter of the Week. We offer a PLAY BASED curriculum in accordance with the recommendation of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Experts know that children learn through the playful interaction with objects and the people around them. “Constructive” play is a powerful learning tool and should not be undervalued.

Our developmentally appropriate program allows us to meet each child’s unique cognitive, social and emotional needs.

Our excellent ratios of 1:6 – 1:7 allows us to offer well-supervised social opportunities and gentle encouragement in a COMFORTING AND NURTURING environment. (State licensing allows a minimum of 10 students to 1 teacher for this age group.)

We offer 2 field trips: October – Plymouth Apple Orchard
          May – Mayberry Farm, Northville
(no school on field trip days and parents provide transportation and supervision. )

No formal conferences are offered unless requested. We will provide a progress note in November.
We use positive discipline approaches and do not use “time out” chairs. Behavior is redirected if necessary.

Prerequisite: Age 3 by December 1st and toilet trained.

NEW PROGRAM OFFERING:  A combined class for older 3's through older 4's!

This new class is offered M/W/F from 12:30-3:30pm.  This new program highlights a christian based, child centered and age appropriate curriculum.  (Other classes are not christian based). The teacher created curriculum focuses on Kindergarten readiness skills through literature and includes many small and large motor activities.  Because class size is small (max 14), the curriculum can be modified to fit age and individual needs. The teachers show students that God loves them through stories and songs.  Curriculum includes monthly themes, letter of the week and daily developmentally appropriate projects.  Teachers for this program are:  Pamela Knudson (lead) and Vanessa Weiler (asst.) formerly of St. Michael Lutheran School.  If you are looking for a christian based program, more days per week for your older 3, or a small class size then this is the program for you!

This program addresses kindergarten readiness skills in a unique, hands-on and play-based program. We address all curriculum areas with attention to a variety of learning styles. If your child loves ACTIVE AND CREATIVE learning, this is the place for them. Teachers’ team-teach and alternate month as lead teacher.

We use the Alphabet Animal Puppets to introduce a new letter each week. We also provide a take-home printing page for practice. Name printing is encouraged and practiced according to each child’s developmental readiness.

Each day, two theme-related projects are available, as well as art and other creative opportunities – PROJECTS ABOUND in this program.

Each teacher is assigned their own small group and meet with them weekly for small group learning activities. This small group teacher is whom you will conference with and will maintain a work portfolio on your child. We offer a formal conference in March and will send home a progress note in November. At conference time, we can make recommendations regarding kindergarten readiness.
